Physical Education & Aquatics Programs
Welcome to the Aquatics Program! The TAS Physical Education/Health program offers a unique aquatics experience that focuses on water familiarization, fundamental skills, stroke development, safety rescue skills and scenarios as well as fun and exciting cooperative games and activities in a 25-meter 7-lane swimming pool located in 2C18.
The PE teachers, in cooperation with two full-time Aquatics Staff, take specific care to ensure every lesson is applicable to the TAS student across the kindergarten through upper school grade levels. TAS students participating in PE or extracurricular programs at the pool are required to supply his/her own: swim suit, goggles, and cap. Towels are supplied during PE swimming only.
All students are encouraged to participate in lessons and to do their best. The staff understands swimmers come from different experiences and backgrounds, and will group students according to their similar abilities. If a student is sick or unable to swim for any reason, a note from home, signed by the school nurse, is required for exemption from activity.
Swimzone is a learn-to-swim program that offers Wednesday after school swim and water safety lessons. Lower School TAS students aged KA through Grade 4 are welcome to participate. The cost varies based on the number of sessions per season.
The lessons focus on water familiarization, fundamentals, and development of swimming strokes. Locally hired certified swim instructors teach the classes, and certified lifeguards supervise at all times.

Tigersharks is an age-group competitive swim team that offers more advanced technique instruction. Coaches focus on creating an enjoyable, complete swimming experience for lower, middle, and upper school swimmers.
The program's goal is to provide a challenging and positive training environment in which swimmers can develop a sense of self-esteem and pride through individual and team achievement. Admittance is via tryouts only, which occur at the start of the school year, or through appointment made with the Aquatics Staff. The cost varies across the three fall, winter, and spring seasons.

The Varsity Swim Team is a select group of 14 boys and 14 girls from the Upper School Season 2 sports tryouts. The swim team operates in line with the Athletics Department and is a member of the Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian Schools (IASAS) Conference. 12 boys and 12 girls chosen from the varsity team represent TAS at the annual IASAS Championships.
