Parent Teacher Association

The PTA supports TAS in its efforts to provide a quality education. Revenues from annual events such as the International Food Fair and Spring Fair fund visiting authors, artists, and special purchases around campus.

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at TAS extends a welcome hand of friendship and offers an opportunity to be active in the Taipei American School community. The PTA co-sponsors the Chinese Parent Connection and contributes to a sense of community among all students, parents, and faculty. Regular meetings provide a forum for views and ideas that are school-wide in concern and interest. The PTA office hours are 1:30 to 4:00PM every school day, when duty officers are available to serve the TAS community. You can download the PTA Bylaws here.

PTA Major Events and Activities

International Food Fair
The first major fundraiser of the year, our International Food Fair is held each October and is open to the Taipei area community. Each year, approximately 25 different countries are represented. TAS parents prepare and sell tasty ethnic meals and treats. Student-run games and entertainment contribute to a fun-filled day for all families.
Winter Wonderland
An event geared for the younger students in our school, Winter Wonderland provides Lower School children with the opportunity to celebrate the winter holidays with games, storytelling, crafts, tasty treats, and have their photo taken with Santa. There's also a special shopping area where children can buy gifts for the special people in their lives.
Spring Fair
The Spring Fair is our second major fundraiser of the year. It's a fun event offering a variety of food, student-run games, and entertainment. With many different vendors attending, the Spring Fair is a shopper's paradise. For those looking for a bargain, attendees may also find many unexpected treasures.
PTA Bookstore/PTA Book Fairs
Open daily from 2:15-4:00 PM, the PTA bookstore offers the readers in your family a chance to purchase both new and used books. Two times per, year we also sponsor a week-long book fair sale of new books. Both at the store and at our book fairs, parent volunteers are always on hand to help with book selections or to answer any questions. If there is a special book that you are having trouble finding, we may be able to help by placing a special order. Proceeds from both events are used to pay for a PTA sponsored visiting author each year.
PTA Store
Staffed by parent volunteers, the PTA store is open daily from 2-4 PM. Shoppers can purchase school supplies, small gifts, and snacks.
Parent Seminars
Each year the PTA sponsors informational seminars for parents, both in English and Mandarin. Topics presented include college admissions information, balance of life, specific subject information, and parenting. These seminars are a venue for two-way communication between TAS parents and the school.
Support Staff Luncheon/Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
At these two PTA sponsored events parents say thank you to the faculty and staff at TAS for their hard work throughout the year. Both events feature a delicious lunch and fun for all involved.
Special Purchase Program
The PTA takes special requests from the community at the end of the school year. Money is allocated based on which requests impact the highest number of students. Over the years, the special purchase program has enhanced the students' learning experiences by providing state of the art tools for classrooms, purchasing educational resources and materials, funding distinguished guests from various disciplines, and more.
PTA Scholarship Awards
At the end of each school year, the PTA sponsors three scholarship awards, which are presented to three upper schools students during the Awards Ceremony. The student recipients are selected based on how well they match the criteria set forth by the scholarship award.
