Administrator - Associate Director of Technology/Director of Instructional Technology (FILLED)
JOB SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Technology/Director of Instructional Technology is a whole-school position that drives strategy and development in Educational Technology to support the school’s pedagogy, learning principles, and instructional practices. This person ensures technological platforms and tools maintain vertical and horizontal alignment across the academic divisions to support teaching and learning.
The Associate Director of Technology/Director of Instructional Technology reports directly to the Director of Technology and will help develop and facilitate both short- and long-range planning to support TAS in creating and maintaining an environment of educational technology and IT integration by collaborating with other technology coaches, faculty, staff and administrators such as the divisional principals and Academic Dean.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EDTECH
General Tasks
- Act in accordance with the TAS policies, procedures, mission, and philosophy.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of groups, including teachers, students, administrators, co-workers, vendors, consultants, community members, and others as required.
- Professionally represent the school in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students; and resolve conflict in a professional manner.
- Maintain professional contacts with other schools, associations, organizations, and vendors concerning technology, Edtech, equipment and related services.
- Participate in and contribute to appropriate professional development opportunities and maintain awareness of emerging technologies, best practices, and trends.
K-12 Edtech Leadership/PD
- Assist the Director of Technology in establishing and meeting expectations in terms of the safety, security, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of technology use at school.
- Support the development and implementation of the TAS Strategic Plan(s).
- Assist the Technology Director to develop and implement short- and long-range plans regarding the use of technology in both the academic and non-academic strands.
- Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of instructional technology professional development where needed.
- Research and provide ideas, guidance and support for the integration of information technology within curriculum and across disciplines.
- Support the creation and use of vertically aligned technology literacy and citizenship across all academic divisions.
- Inform the Academic Dean of upcoming technology workshops and conferences which may be of interest to members of the TAS community.
Support Educational Technology
- Coordinate, support and mentor the Edtech coaches as they help faculty develop and implement strategies that enhance and enrich teaching and learning through the use of current and emerging forms of technology.
- Ensure the Director of Technology stays informed of educational technology initiatives and concerns in order to provide appropriate and necessary support.
- Collaborate with the Director of Technology and Academic Dean on projects and goals related to technology and the use of technology in the classroom.
- Coordinate with the Edtech coaches to foster parent community communication, education, and relations as it pertains to technology use.
TECHNOLOGY
Administrative
- Assist the Director of Technology in establishing, managing, assessing and reviewing organizational and operational matters and processes for the technology department.
- Assist the Director of Technology in assessing needs and expenditures that ensure all educators and students have access to appropriate tools for teaching and learning.
- Assess and strive to improve the school’s use of technology in terms of safety, security,
- efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Assist with the regular review, maintenance, protection, and enhancements of technological resources (data, network, software, and hardware).
- Supervise and evaluate subordinates in carrying out their duties.
Tech Support
- Coordinate and collaborate with technology department members on projects that support school priorities and promote a positive and reliable technology experience for the TAS community.
- Assist the Director of Technology and the technology department with isolating, researching, and resolving complex problems or issues for critical applications used for teaching and learning.
- Assist with the roll-out of technology as needed (PCs, mobile computing devices, etc).
- Monitor, assist with, and/or delegate faculty and student technology concerns as appropriate.
Ethical use
- Draft, oversee and periodically review the school's policies, procedures and protocols for safe and appropriate technology use in the school.

Technology planning
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to technology.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree with preference in educational technology, IT management or similar field of study.
- A minimum of five years’ experience working with students in a classroom setting.
- A minimum of five years’ experience working with technology in schools, including a proven track record of integrating technology into a classroom setting.
- Experience with various operating systems (including Windows, ChromeOS, and Apple OS), mobile technologies, and networked systems.

JOB SUMMARY
The nurse is responsible for carrying out the required health services for students in accordance with school policies and procedures. Health services includes evaluating patient complaints and using professional judgment in providing comfort and care, making referrals to doctors, and keeping parents, teachers and administrators informed on an as needed basis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide nursing services for sick or injured students on campus and on school sponsored trips off campus as directed.
- Collect and maintain health records for each student using the school's data management systems, including immunization records and medical examination forms, and notifying parents when updates are needed.
- Inform parents about illness, injuries and potential health problems and provide health counseling directed toward pursuit of appropriate action within the scope authorized under the RN license.
- Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team in support of students with specific medical concerns.
- Inform teachers, administrators and parents of communicable health concerns in classrooms.
- Dispense and maintain daily medications and emergency medications when authorized by parents and physicians and inform parents when updates are needed.
- Chart each patient with accurate and appropriate details.
- Conduct health screenings for students including vision screens, hearing screens, and drug testing.
- Prepare first-aid kits and emergency medications for off campus or extracurricular events as needed.
- Assist in preparation and attendance of middle school camp as assigned.
- Maintaining emergency medical equipment on campus, including AED’s, emergency medical bags, and emergency supplies in disaster shed.
- Consult with family medical practitioners when needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues and supports team members.
- Maintain and replenish medical supplies and equipment as needed within budgetary limits.
- Assist in identification of safety and health hazards on the school campus.
- Other duties as assigned by head nurse, which may include health office projects, administrative work or supporting divisional functions as needed.

JOB SUMMARY
The position of Communications Officer reports directly to the Director of Communications and Marketing and is responsible for the implementation of a unified school wide communications program, maintaining in all communication media the desired message, consistent with the mission and culture of TAS. This position primarily works with digital communications and supports print needs in an effort to maintain the image of TAS and strategically and proactively raise awareness of TAS in Taipei and the worldwide community. The Officer is responsible for engaging with the TAS community, communicating the mission, vision, and value of the school to its many stakeholders through clear, accessible, and compelling communications through news stories, newsletters, bulletins, images, layouts, and other vehicles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the school wide communications/marketing plan. Follow and refine specific procedures for all methods and means of communication to ensure appropriate TAS representation and message is established and maintained.
- Develop and manage content on the TAS Website (both public facing and parent portals) to ensure consistent and up-to-date messaging that supports the TAS mission and is in line with the communication/marketing strategy.
- Develop strong, working relationships with divisional content creators to ensure divisional post, emails, and portals are on brand and up-to-date.
- Create and manage the scheduled (weekly and monthly) community updates.
- Maintain the TAS social media feeds with guidance from the Director of Communications and Marketing.
- Write and post current happenings on campus as news stories (2-3 per week) for the TAS website.
- Provide photography, videography and graphic support for both the digital and print communication needs.
- Edit and write articles for school wide publications and various fundraising materials.
- Manage the production and maintenance of school wide business cards, stationary, and other officially branded communications materials (print and digital).

TITLE: Lower School Technology & Design Coach
SUPERVISOR: Lower School Principal
Position Summary
The Lower School Technology & Design Coach is responsible for developing and implementing Taipei American School’s STEAM program, digital literacy and citizenship, and instructional use of technology. This person catalyzes innovative student thinking through collaboratively designing and providing support for authentic, engaging, problem-based STEAM projects and technology integration opportunities across multiple content areas. This role involves a two-third STEAM teaching load and a one-third coaching role. Additional skills in a specialized area, such as construction tools, video editing, and/or visual design, are preferred.
Qualifications
We seek a motivated and flexible individual who understands how adults and students learn and can work in a shared and cooperative environment. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in education or instructional technology or a related field; a master’s degree is strongly preferred. Experience identifying pedagogical needs and integrating design and technological solutions for lower school students is required. This includes building in authentic points of integration for digital citizenship and information literacy in classrooms. Experience developing and implementing STEAM projects is essential. Experience developing and delivering technical training to an audience with varying levels of technical understanding is also essential.

1. Leadership

Lower School Counselor (FILLED)
The Lower School (LS) Counselor is responsible for providing a comprehensive school counseling program that is pro-active in design, developmental in implementation and supports TAS students social and emotional development. The counselor also serves as a consultant to educators, families, and community partners. In addition to providing responsive services and individual student planning, all lower school counselors collaborate and work in tandem with homeroom teachers in flexible ways to deliver social emotional programing to all students.
The counselor is administratively responsible to the LS principal and is a member of the teaching staff. The counselor is required to hold a bachelor's degree and a master’s of social work, counseling or another related field. This assistant theater manager will assist the theater manager and support all TAS performing arts production work in the auditorium, the Black Box, and Harmony Theater.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
The assistant theater manager must be self-directed and self-monitored in their commitments to performance needs, flexible to adapt to changing schedules and deadlines, and detail-oriented to maintain communication with colleagues and student crews. The assistant theater manager must be comfortable performing medium to heavy physical labor, working at heights on scaffolding, lifts, and ladders, and working with standard power tools. Hours will include evening and weekend performances and rehearsals.
- Coordinates the set up and execution of technical requirements of productions in the auditorium, black box, and harmony theater, including lighting, sound, and scenery requirements.
- Learns and applies technologies, including ETC EOS lighting software, QLab, and other relevant programs to accomplish the goals of the performing arts programs.
- Communicates with users to establish, discuss, or clarify technical requirements of productions.
- Designs, builds, and repairs sets and scenery for various shows for all three divisions.

- Provide administrative support to the athletic program and assist the athletic director with the following duties and responsibilities:
- Implement athletic programs and policies

- Assist with the preparation of the Athletic budget; monitor expenditures and prepare and track purchase orders

- Assist with the recruitment and hiring of all coaches and other department personnel as needed
- Participate and assist in the planning and execution of special events such as Athletics Awards Banquets and the Hall of Fame/Special Awards event

POSITION SUMMARY:
Taipei American School seeks a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer. This position reports directly to the Head Athletic Trainer and Athletic Director. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will share in responsibility for supporting all student athletes grades 6-12 in the realm of primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergency care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in developing, establishing, and maintaining emergency action plan procedures.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of a comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention program for student athletes and sports teams.
- Provide emergency and/or continued care to student athletes and make appropriate referrals to physicians and hospitals for follow up care.
- Provide medical evaluations of student athletes and create healthcare improvement plans.
- Manage and organize student athlete treatments while assisting in determining therapeutic goals for individual student athletes, applying therapeutic modalities, and instructing athletes on proper use of therapeutic exercise.
- Assist in planning, implementing, and providing a comprehensive rehabilitation and reconditioning program for injuries and illnesses sustained by student athletes.
- Assist in developing and demonstrating criteria for progression and return to participation clearances after student-athlete injuries.
- Assist in fitting injured athletes with specialized equipment and overseeing proper use.
- Follow and enforce professional, ethical, and legal parameters regarding use of medication and therapeutic agents for treatment and rehabilitation of injured student athletes.
- Detect and resolve risks to student athletes and determine continued athletic participation.
- Assist in providing medical coverage for school sponsored practice sessions and athletic competitions for student athletes that also involves weekend events and traveling within and outside of Taiwan.
- Establish and maintain effective communication acting as a liaison between students, parents, coaches, administrators, and other faculty/staff regarding injury management & providing updates.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents including medical, accident, and treatment records.

JOB SUMMARY

Job Summary
Adolescents face unique and diverse challenges, both personally and developmentally, that have an impact on academic achievement. This Counselor assumes overall responsibility for supporting Grade 9-12 students as they develop personal and social competencies. This role also takes on responsibilities for a reduced college counseling caseload as described below.
Major Responsibilities
- Provides short term individual and/or group or counseling which addresses personal, academic, social, and/or behavioral issues.
- Assists students with the development of realistic personal, social, and academic goals.
- Values and responds to the diversity and individual differences of students.
- Assists students with course planning and registration.
- Coordinates and champions course options through the Global Online Academy (GOA)
- Consults, collaborates, and liaises with parents, administrators, school psychologists, teachers and outside professionals regarding social, emotional, and academic needs of individual students.
- Meets individually at least twice with all advisees/counselees over the course of a school year.
- Coordinates the orientation program for new Upper School students and parents.
- Provides transitions program for both new and departing students and parents.
- Serves as an Advisor
- Assists families with referrals to outside agencies.
- Responds to and leads when crisis situations arise and participates in the Crisis Response Team as necessary.

- Counsels students on the college search and application process, including self-exploration, goal-setting, self-advocacy, and application review. Also, provides support through the required school-based components of the application, including producing a comprehensive and creative counselor letter of recommendation for each student.
- Consult regularly with college admissions representatives on current practices and admissions trends and to advocate on behalf of student applicants through phone conversations, email interactions, attendance at conferences, participation in visitation programs or initiatives, and hosting college admissions representatives on campus.
- Assumes responsibility for remaining current on best practices.
- Participates in the life of TAS through attendance at events and leadership of extracurricular activities, with an expectation to be involved in student life through coaching, club sponsorship, etc..
Caseload: Approximately 40% College Counseling (roughly 15-20 students), 40% Academic & Personal Counseling students (about 90 students), 20% interdepartmental and divisional work. Thus, the caseload for this comprehensive counselor would be approximately 100 students in total.
As college counseling begins in Grade 11, we will seek to assign this counselor around 50% of their college counseling students to be those that they support as an Academic & Personal Counselor for ease of transition, background and family information, and general overlap for managing the two roles and caseloads.
Essential Qualifications/Experience
- Masters’ degree in Education or related field with evidence of counseling certification.
