Season 2 Athletes Enjoying Success

After an epic showing at Season 1 of the Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asia Schools (IASAS), our TAS athletes are more motivated than ever to compete in season 2. The 206 rostered upper school student athletes and 195 middle school student athletes have been working tirelessly during practices and giving their all during competitions.

Both our Middle School and Upper School divisions fielded 15 teams which include basketball, swimming, rugby, touch and tennis (US only). Each team participated in some form of competition consisting of intrasquad scrimmages, matches with local teams, tournaments and exchanges.

Word about the Varsity Media Day from season 1 spread like wildfire, and the season 2 Varsity Media Day didn’t disappoint! The event was well attended with all 8 varsity teams represented as we celebrated their achievements and highlighted the senior athletes. Besides capturing awesome moments in photos, student athletes spent the morning connecting with other athletes, playing games and enjoying refreshments provided by our PTA Boosters.

Taipei American School atheletes on the tennis and rugby teams for IASAS season 2 of the 2022-23 school year

With the easing of COVID-19 related travel restrictions, all Varsity teams were able to participate in an off-island exchange. Touch rugby gained valuable experience participating in the Pan Pacific Touch Exchange hosted at Singapore American School, Tennis and Rugby teams competed in the International School Bangkok Invitational with Boys and Girls Tennis 1 teams winning Silver, the Boys team 2 winning Bronze, and Rugby capturing 1st place. Our basketball and swimming teams traveled to compete in Okinawa, Japan, against Kubasaki and Kadena high schools in the final exchange of the semester.

The Sports Medicine Team continues to make positive strides with the Taipei American School Safety Center CPR training initiative. To date, all season 1, season 2, and season 3 varsity coaches have been certified in CPR & AED with the goal of certifying all coaches by the end of the school year.

Season 2 IASAS will take place from February 2-4, 2023. TAS varsity basketball will travel to International School Manila, varsity swimming travels to International School Kuala Lumpur, varsity rugby and touch travel to Jakarta International School, and varsity tennis travels to Singapore American School.
