Subject Area Overview

The lower school visual arts program is designed to develop the aesthetic sensitivity, creative potential, and self-esteem present within every child.

We provide opportunities for students in all areas of literacy that give them the skills to become critical thinkers, independent learners, and effective communicators.

The library provides the Taipei American School community with access to information, reading materials, research assistance and instruction that supports curriculum and educational goals of the school.

TAS offers a proficiency-based multi-level K-5 Mandarin program. 

Our program follows the best research and practices available for supporting high achievement in mathematics and sets our lower school students up for success in any middle school math program, whether at TAS or elsewhere.

TAS has a proud reputation of having a fantastic music program. Music is a valued and required part of our lower school program for students from Grades KA through 5.

The lower school physical education program focuses on the development of the whole child by promoting mental, social, emotional, and physical development.

Science in the Lower School encourages and empowers students to pursue their innate curiosity while building a solid foundation of scientific skills, knowledge, and experience.
