Learn more about this Grade 7 and 8 elective

Conflict, crisis, and cooperation are permanent features of an increasingly complex world. Students explore the intersection of these concepts to better understand political cooperation, conflict and security, peace-making, diplomacy, alliance forming, enemy-making, and competing ideologies that influence the course of global events. Through simulations and games, students are introduced to theories they can use to explain international news headlines and the actors and issues behind them. Students learn about key issues by paying close attention to major current events, developing news stories, and global issues such as human rights, access to resources, and climate change. First and foremost, students are encouraged to follow their own curiosity of global events and explore topics of their own interest.
