Middle School Curriculum Posts

Grade 6 Choir bridges the vocal development of elementary and early adolescent singers. The curriculum is performance-based with three formal concerts a year. Students are exposed to a wide variety of genres and sing in two or three-part harmony. Repertoire consists of age-appropriate materials including accessible texts in multiple languages, and careful attention is devoted to vocal health.  Students integrate technology through experiences in listening, self-reflection, small group practice, and aural exercises. They have access to Sibelius for composition, Musition for theory, and Sightreading Factory for music literacy skills. Through performances, students demonstrate the knowledge gained, develop expressiveness and poise, establish a foundation of teamwork and cultivate self-esteem. The Grade 6 Choir performs at the end of Semester concerts and in the Vocal Festival.
