Learn more about our Grade 6 Choir curriculum

Grade 6 Choir bridges the vocal development of elementary and early adolescent singers. The curriculum is performance-based with three formal concerts a year. Students are exposed to a wide variety of genres and sing in two or three-part harmony. Repertoire consists of age-appropriate materials including accessible texts in multiple languages, and careful attention is devoted to vocal health. Sight-reading is taught through selected repertoire and warm-up exercises. Students integrate technology through experiences in listening, self-reflection, small group practice, and exercises in aural skills. They have access to Sibelius for composition, Musition for theory, and Auralia for ear-training exercises. Through performances, students demonstrate the knowledge gained, develop expressiveness and poise, establish a foundation of teamwork and cultivate self-esteem.  The Grade 6 Choir performs at the end of Semester concerts and in the Vocal Festival.
