Skills for Success is a grade 6 course designed to ease the transition from Lower School to Middle School, giving students a comfortable, low-stakes environment where they can adapt to new expectations, routines, and physical spaces. Parents highly value this class, as it equips students with essential foundational skills that support their growth well into adulthood. The course deepens and extends essential skills introduced in core subjects; especially SEL, executive functioning, and technology. By building independence and reinforcing our schoolwide learning outcomes, SFS equips students with the tools they need to confidently navigate academic and personal challenges. We regularly collaborate with core classes on shared projects, providing meaningful, authentic contexts that help students apply what they’ve learned while reducing the cognitive load in other subjects. Acting as a connector to the rest of the curriculum, the class ensures students can enter future tasks with fewer barriers.
