Middle School Curriculum Posts

You can make anything out of clay! In class students will focus on hand-building techniques for pottery and small scale clay sculpture. Also we will get to experience the potter’s wheel to attempt to make a wheel thrown pot. Materials used/skills learned: Clay, slip, sculpting and carving tools, commercial glazes & underglazes, ceramic decals, and the potter’s wheel will be used. Pinch, coil, slab, and potter’s wheel construction techniques will be learned. Multiple surface decoration techniques will be explored.
