Learn more about our Grade 7 Choir curriculum
Grade 7 Choir continues the vocal development of early adolescent singers. The curriculum is performance-based with three formal concerts a year, including opportunities to sing locally at cultural occasions and community events. Students are exposed to a wide variety of genres and sing in three or four-part harmony, suitable to their changing voices. Repertoire emphasizes significant poetic texts, composers, and exposure to different cultures and languages. Sight-reading is taught through selected repertoire and warm-up exercises. Students integrate technology through experiences in listening and simple composition, self-reflection, small group practice, and exercises in aural skills. They have access to Sibelius for composition, Musition for theory, and Auralia for ear-training. Through performances on and off-campus, students continue to demonstrate knowledge gained, expressiveness, poise, teamwork and confidence in their vocal abilities. The Middle School Choir performs informally at Back to School Night and formally at the end of Semester concerts and Vocal Festival.
