Learn more about our Grade 8 Choir curriculum
Grade 8 Choir fosters the vocal development of adolescent singers through a performance-based curriculum centered on artistic growth and community engagement. Students explore diverse genres and cultures by singing in three and four-part harmonies specifically tailored to their changing voices. This journey emphasizes significant poetic texts and global perspectives, allowing students to build foundational musicianship through sight-reading and sophisticated repertoire.
Our program integrates industry-standard technology to enhance the learning experience, utilizing Sibelius for composition, Musition for theory, and Sightreading Factory for music literacy. These tools, alongside student-led a cappella ensembles, promote peer collaboration, independent music literacy, and creative decision-making.
Throughout the year, students showcase their progress during formal end-of-semester concerts, the annual Vocal Festival, and various local cultural events. By performing both on and off-campus—often alongside the 7th Grade and Upper School choirs—students develop the poise, teamwork, and confidence essential for advanced vocal expression.
