Taipei American School’s Student Support Services Department provides a range of services to maximize each student’s social, emotional, and academic growth. The following programs are offered to Taipei American School students:
- Reading Specialist Services (KA-5)
- Learning Resource Services (KA -12)
- Speech/Language Services (KA-12)
- Guidance Counseling (KA-12)
- Psychological Services (KA-12)
Learning Resource Program
The Learning Resource Program provides a variety of services for students who need support in order to master grade level curriculum. The Upper School Learning Resource Program is designed to provide individual and small group instruction to students with learning needs. Emphasis is placed on strengthening academic abilities and study skills, teaching time management and organizational strategies, and encouraging self-advocacy. Alternative instructional strategies and testing accommodations are also provided to students who demonstrate specific academic or information processing deficits.
Speech and Language Program KA-12
The Speech and Language Program offers remediation for students from Kindergarten A through Grade 12. The areas of remediation may include voice, articulation, fluency, and oral language. Vocabulary, grammar, listening skills, comprehension strategies, and the organization of ideas are also addressed. In addition, verbal reasoning and problem-solving strategies are also emphasized.
Mental Health Support
Taipei American School’s psychologists also provide individual and small group counseling, consult with parents and teachers, conduct classroom observations, individual psychological evaluations, behavioral assessments, analyze group standardized testing results, and serve as Student Support Services Department Chairpersons.
