Get in Touch with Us!

The admissions committee welcomes you to write, call, or visit us at any time. We would be delighted to share with you all the reasons Taipei American School is a special place for your child to grow, learn, and explore. Let us know how we can help!

Confirm Eligibility

To be eligible for enrollment, a child must hold a foreign (non-ROC) passport and a valid visa to reside in the Republic of China. Passports obtained simply through business involvements with a foreign country will not be considered to support a student or parent's expatriate status at TAS.

Students must turn 4 years old by September 1 of the academic year to apply for our youngest program, Kindergarten A. The school will not enroll a student who will be over the age of twenty-two at the time of his or her graduation.

The student must reside with at least one parent or legal guardian in the greater Taipei area.

Grade Placement

Grade placement is at the discretion of the admissions committee and is made after a complete review of the application.

To be admitted to the kindergarten-A program, a student must be four years old prior to September 1 of the school year. To be admitted to the kindergarten program, a student must be five years old prior to September 1. A grade 1 applicant must be six years old prior to September 1.

The school will not enroll a student who will be over the age of twenty-two at the time of his or her graduation.

The student must reside with at least one parent in the greater Taipei area.

Students transferring from a country whose school year follows a school calendar different than TAS will generally be required to continue in the year they have completed. For example, a student completing grade 8 in Korea in January would be placed in grade 8 for the remainder of the academic year at TAS.

When assessing the student's application, the admissions committee considers prior academic and behavioral records, English proficiency, and possible need for additional support services.
