  • Ken Flemming joined the TAS faculty in 1995. Ken was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta in western Canada. He earned his bachelor's in physical education from the University of Alberta. Before coming to TAS, he taught middle school PE in Canada, and middle and upper school PE in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic as well as Caracas, Venezuela. At TAS, Ken teaches PE in the middle school as well as the middle school confidence course elective; he also coaches middle school intramurals. Ken and his wife Deborah Flemming, who teaches US Dance and PE at TAS, enjoy travel and scuba diving. Their daughter graduated from TAS.

  • Judy joined TAS in 2016 with a B.A. in Honours Recreation and Business from the University of Waterloo and a B.Ed. from the University of Toronto.

Judy was born in Taipei and grew up in Mississauga, Canada. She studied Recreation and Business at the University of Waterloo while competing as a varsity rugby athlete and amateur hockey player. After graduation, she moved back to Taipei where she spent the next 6 years teaching English. Her students ranged from Kindergarten children to business professionals and everyone in between. When she finally committed to a professional teaching career, she returned to Canada to study Education at the University of Toronto and worked with the Toronto Inner-city Rugby Foundation to help establish a $100,000 scholarship for students pursuing post-secondary education.

Prior to Taipei American School, Judy taught physical education at the International School of Macao for 2 years. She coached touch rugby for middle and secondary school teams and mini rugby with Macau Rugby Football Club.

Judy continues to stay active in the sports community. She has traveled around Asia to compete in rugby, winning the 2015 Macau Beach Rugby tournament. She learned to play Gaelic Football in Taiwan and won the 2015 Asian Gaelic Games with the Taiwan Celts. She plays rugby with the Taipei Baboons and touch rugby with the Taipei Hulks. In addition to rugby and Gaelic football, Judy plays baseball, basketball, volleyball, squash, and enjoys hiking and eating.

  • Hannah joined TAS as the TAS Associate Athletics Director in April 2018. Hannah played NCAA Division 2 softball and won the 2014 national championship at West Texas A&M University where she got her bachelor’s degree, then got her master’s degree from Texas Tech after graduating from West Texas A&M. She loves to watch her alma mater compete in all sports, but dislikes it greatly whenever a Texas Tech team loses.

As you would expect from someone who works full time in the Athletics department, Hannah loves sports. Her favorites include baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball, and football. She also enjoys listening to live music.
