SY1819 Purchasing Specialist

Job Summary:

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for all procurement and purchasing activities on assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare school-wide purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; searching and selecting suppliers; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
  • Verify receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers. Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
  • Coordinate customs clearance of incoming shipments with warehouse, Minister of Education, Taipei Customs Bureau, and external forwarders.
  • Participate school annual tender requests and follow through the bidding results.
  • Work with supervisors to initiate cost-saving proposals.
  • Prequalify suppliers according to school policy and regularly re-evaluate prequalified vendors.
  • Participate in special projects assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:      

  • Minimum of five years of successful experience in purchasing administration, procurement administrative or logistics support function preferred
  • Upper Intermediate English proficiency preferred (listening, speaking, reading and writing)

SY1920 Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary:

Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of buildings, ground, and MEP & HVAC systems/equipment; supervise technicians to ensure required tasks are quickly and safely completed for school operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, update, modify, and implement a Maintenance Department master plan to conduct periodic preventative maintenance for the school facilities (including MEP and HVAC systems) and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Review work orders, prioritize maintenance requests, schedule workflow, assign projects to qualified technicians, supervise project progress, train and support technicians when required, liaise with vendors, and evaluate quality of work (in-house and outsourced) to ensure timely delivery of services and project resolutions.
  • Develop, review, implement (including technician training), and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which comply with legal codes, meet minimum performance and quality standards, and account for school plans to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Accomplish maintenance and organizational plans by insuring completion of tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager, Director of Facilities, or COO.
  • Be an involved member of the Business & Operations Division by backing up the Maintenance Manager in his duties, providing reports and attending B&O Division meetings when necessary, fostering a positive attitude and insuring harmonious relations between the Maintenance Department and other Departments, and serving on the school crises ("emergency") planning & response team.
  • Perform Technician III duties when necessary to ensure all maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner and all Department requirements are fulfilled.

Key Competencies and essential selection criteria:      

  • College graduate. Majoring in engineering or architecture (construction) preferred
  • Eight years of experience in a similar work environment with three years of supervisory experience

SY1920 Executive Chef

Job Summary:

The Executive Chef's primary duty is to ensure that delicious, nutritious, quality food is available every day in the TAS cafeteria and Snack Bar, and to support TAS programs by ensuring in-house catering is correctly prepared and delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop menus and recipes focusing on nutrition, taste, and quality that satisfy the needs and preferences of the diverse TAS community.
  • Direct kitchen food operations; manage and supervise chefs, cooks, bakers, and food handlers ensuring quality and enforcing HACCP protocols.
  • Working with the TAS FSD Business Manager and Cafeteria Supervisor manage food and ingredient inventory by developing purchasing lists, ordering food, receiving and inspecting deliveries, organizing storage, and minimizing food waste.
  • Direct kitchen cleaning operations (including dishwashing) and oversee implementation of food safety program and HACCP protocols.

Selection criteria:      

  • College degree or advanced certificate in Culinary Arts/Science, Baking Arts, or other culinary program
  • At least 10 years in relevant field, including 3 years' experience directing large scale food preparation agency or commercial kitchen operations
  • Native Chinese proficiency; Advanced English proficiency level
  • Food Safety/HACCP Certification
  • Proven experience and knowledge of large-scale food production techniques

SY1920 Upper School Tech Cube Shop Technician(s)

Job Summary:

To assist teachers and students with the use of Tech Cube facilities and equipment/tools/machinery, maintain equipment, maintain lab organization and stock, and provide lab supervision to help ensure student safety in the Tech Cube.

Key Responsibilities:

Take responsibility in ensuring a well-run Tech Cube shop floor by:

  • Overseeing the maintenance, repair, cleaning and general state of all US Tech Cube machinery (CNC equipment, laser cutter, 3D printers, power tools, and hand tools)
  • Maintaining and organizing the lab and lab inventory.
  • Execute an equipment maintenance/upkeep plan and support the supervisor by making recommendations for repair/replacement of equipment and suggested improvements to the maintenance plan to ensure smooth operation of equipment and facility.
  • Working with the US Computer Science Secretary and local vendors to order and maintain tools and material stock.
  • Communicating with vendors to facilitate equipment maintenance.
  • Holding students accountable for adhering to all shop organizational/maintenance standards.

Take responsibility in ensuring lab supervision and student safety by:

  • Understanding and adhering to all TAS/US Tech Cube Safety Standards for the lab space.
  • Modeling safe use of all shop equipment.
  • Execute student supervision plan and support the supervisor by making recommendations for supervision improvements to the supervisor to ensure student safety.
  • Careful supervision of the shop floor and lab spaces.
  • Holding students accountable for adhering to all TAS/Tech Cube safety standards.
  • Being present and alert on the shop floor, and/or assuring a trained shop supervision is present during all hours of Tech Cube operation.

Selection criteria:      

  • College graduate (in education, technical, engineering or design fields preferred)
  • At least two years’ work experience in a bilingual and or international environment is preferred; experience with children in an educational or service setting, particularly fabrication, art, design, or other 3D creative fields preferred.
  • Candidates who are experienced machinists, fabricators, CNC operators, or have experience with 3D printing will be given strong preference. Relevant experience and/or knowledge of science, technology, programming, engineering, construction and design concepts
  • Proficient in oral and written Mandarin. Excellent oral and written English.
  • Machining and fabrication experience; familiarity with CNC machines.
  • Strong computer skills including using CAD/CAM software, and the capability to learn specialized software/applications as required

SY1920 Upper School Library Service Technician

Job Summary:

To assist the programs and services of the upper school library through: direct supervision of students with and without librarian or administrative support; organization and circulation of library materials; direct delivery of library services to patrons; development of print and digital marketing and communications; administrative duties related to daily operations and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently provide front-line services to all patrons, e.g., circulation of books and equipment, access to digital information, scheduling appointments & facilities, monitoring of student activity.
  • Independently maintain technical and loaded content on digital information devices to ensure consistent access to information & library services, e.g., Kindle setups and circulation maintenance, iPad setups, configurations and daily downloads, Services forms, screensavers, etc.
  • Independently receive and process patron-driven acquisitions (purchases) process, e.g., create request forms, source requests, report requests to librarian for approval, monitor and document acquisitions process.
  • Independently main digital and print materials records, e.g., create detailed data record for each purchased item, enter data records in library management system, update data as needed, use data management software to assist with data management.
  • Independently maintain web page, signage, and other user communications methods, e.g., update all resource communications regularly (web, CHA, CWA Bulletins, etc.), Create informational, directional, and marketing signage and newsfeeds for a variety of purposes.

SY1920 Middle School Tech Cube Assistant

Job Summary:

To assist classroom teachers with the delivery of instruction and support classroom activities to ensure a well-run and well-managed classroom. To assist teachers and students with the use of the Tech Cube facilities and equipment/tools/machinery and provide administrative aide to support the delivery of STEM classes to ensure programs are well-run and student safety is well-managed in the Tech Cube.

Key Responsibilities:

Take responsibility in ensuring a well-run Tech Cube floor by:

  • Oversee the repairing, cleaning and general state of all MS Tech Cube machinery (laser cutters, 3D printers, Shop Bot, mounted power tools, hand power tools and hand tools).
  • Maintaining and organizing STEAM related supplies inventory.
  • Maintaining, organizing, and restoring the MS Tech Cube Floor and liaising with vendors to facilitate equipment maintenance.
  • Upholding and modeling all TAS/MS Tech Cube Safety Protocols.

Take responsibility in ensuring a well-run program by:

  • Offering in-class support or small group supervision of students engaging in STEAM activities.
  • Preparing materials, tools and classrooms for lessons and STEAM related clubs/events.
  • Communicating with different departments within TAS as well as local/overseas vendors in order to prepare purchase orders to ensure MS STEAM needs (regular and special purchase) are met in a timely manner.
  • Providing administrative support to STEAM Coordinator and Technology Design Coach in preparation of teaching materials, supplies and equipment for classes, clubs and other STEAM related events.
  • Managing department petty cash.

Selection criteria:      

  • College graduate (in education, technical or design fields preferred)

SY1920 Athletic Facilities Assistant

Job Summary:

Manage, oversee and set up equipment and facility to make sure all events and parent’s bookings can start on time and run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Check facilities (including but not limited to gyms, fields and tennis courts before the PE classes start, make marking lines on turf and upper field, inventory check, etc.) to ensure the facility is set up and restored according to instructional and extra-curricular needs.
  2. Manage, oversee, set up equipment and facilities, and stand by during the event to ensure facility and equipment needs are met.
  3. Check for need for maintenance to ensure the equipment and facility are in good condition.
  4. Assist with inventory system for all equipment and uniforms to ensure accurate records keeping and sufficient inventory.
  5. Follow the parent and faculty rental management requirement, perform each task as stated in the facilities department SOPs and ensure issues and problems are addressed in a timely manner to the supervisors for resolution and follow up.
  6. Follow the instructions of each service order, complete the tasks per the assigned timeline and agreed requirement, and ensure issues and problems are addressed in a timely manner to the supervisors for resolution and follow up.
  7. Follow the facilities department SOPs and agreed operational standards to ensure all events and parent’s bookings can start on time and run smoothly.
  8. Serve on the search team during school declared emergencies, e.g. fire drill, to ensure safety of all in school.
  9. Work with PE and Athletics teams to provide timely support to meet athletic events requirements and PE schedules.
  10. Other duties assigned by the supervisors.

Selection criteria:      

  • College diploma, major in physical education related preferred; experience in sports or fitness related field
  • Intermediate level of English. Mandarin fluency
  • Knowledge of sports rules and regulations, sports/activities need in terms of facility and equipment

SY1920 Security Guard II (Full-Time/Part-Time)

Job Summary:

The security guard II is responsible for maintaining security equipment and report to the Security Supervisor to perform tasks ensuring the safety and security of all TAS community members, visitors and school property.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform security checks of the campus (patrol, spot check) for students and community members to ensure safety and property protection.
  • Issue guest pass to visitors by school policy to ensure campus safety.
  • Direct traffic to ensure smooth flow at the parent parking lot as well as for school buses’ arrival and departure at bus parking.
  • Handle visitor inquiries and provide first level of security assistance to
  • parents, students and visitors on campus and report Security Supervisor as per security manual and procedure.
  • Emergency are reported to Security Supervisor as per security manual and protocol.
  • Conduct daily check and maintain smooth operations of security team equipment including but not limited to 2 –way radio, CCTV video, emergency line, fire alarm, PA system) and report to Security Supervisor as per security team manual and procedure.

Key Competencies and essential selection criteria:      

  • At least two years of full-time experience in security guard position at the recognized company or security agency. Completion of military service preferred
  • College graduation
  • Native Mandarin with adequate fluency in English (speaking, listening, reading and writing). Knowledge of other dialect is preferred
  • Ability to use security equipment and learn new equipment as work required

SY1920 Security Shift Supervisor (Full-Time/Part-Time)

Job Summary:

The security shift supervisor is responsible for the safety of all users, e-Tag gate control systems, monitoring security equipment, assisting with inquiries/issues and preparing daily shift and sub timesheet reports to ensure the safety and security of all TAS community members, visitors, school property and smooth operational need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cover and perform shift duties of a security guard on a daily basis including campus patrol, spot check, issue guest pass to ensure campus safety and property protection. 
  • Collaborate and liaise with the internal departments to ensure any security related issues are addressed and solved in a timely manner.
  • Provide security and support for e-Tag gate control system checks/set-up, guest/vendor security pass scan systems check and daily validation, and security team equipment check. 
  • Monitor school parking lot and maintain parking etiquette to ensure safety and security at all time.
  • Ensure accurate reports are prepared at the end of each shift and check previous report to follow up pending issues; respond to and assist with inquiries/issues and report to Security Manager for further process if required.
  • Assist the Security Manager to schedule and plan duty rosters for guards to ensure regular days as well as special activities in school are supported with sufficient guards.
  • Provide on-site shift supervision and guidance to guards to ensure required standard operating procedure (SOP) and operational disciplines and security protocols are duly followed.
  • Assist with weekly substitute datasheet preparation, validation and check substitute’s check-in/out schedule.  

Key Competencies and essential selection criteria:      

  • At least three years of full-time security guard experience, guard supervision experience preferred
  • Native Mandarin with Intermediate English proficiency level (speaking, listening, reading and writing)
  • College graduation
