Dear Lower School Parents,
Since the announcement of TAS's campus closure until February 24th, lower school teachers have been working behind the scenes to ensure learning continues for your children. Through the use of Seesaw (a technology platform familiar to students, teachers, and families), important academic skills will be presented daily. Digital activities will give students opportunities to connect with their teachers and participate in meaningful and relevant learning across the curriculum. You can expect to see a gradual rollout beginning Thursday, February 6, with increasing content in the days thereafter, and we are confident that curricular goals will be met by the end of the school year.
Here are some things you need to know and consider during these digital learning days:
- Seesaw posts will be made available daily at 8:00 AM, Taipei time, Monday to Friday.
- Teachers will communicate with students through Seesaw.
- It is important that an adult supervise your child while online.
- You should provide a dedicated space for your child to focus on his/her learning.
- Create a schedule for digital learning at home to help students complete their work.
- All students are expected to participate in digital learning.
- All students are expected to share their learning as directed by their teacher(s).
- TAS librarians will share information with you about online reading resources.
You will hear from your child's homeroom teacher on Wednesday, February 5 about important grade level details regarding digital learning. Through this process, teachers will also inform you about how they will take attendance, and how they will provide feedback to your children regarding their learning.
Please note that Lower School Parent/Teacher Conference Days (Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20) will now be designated as full instructional days. We will determine other ways to update you about your child's progress later this spring.
