February 20, 2020
Dear Lower School Parents,
On Tuesday, February 25th (Day 1), our classrooms, hallways, and entire campus will once again be filled with the glorious sounds of your children as they return to campus – and the lower school team eagerly awaits their arrival! Our days of eLearning off-campus are coming to an end, and I am grateful for your support during this time. Your emails of encouragement and the photos you have sent of your children engaged in learning from home were heart-warming, and I thank you for the helpful feedback. I recognize and appreciate the hard work of both you at home and also of our world-class teachers who created digital lessons; your partnership with our teachers has helped to keep learning on track while our campus was closed. It is during times like this when we learn the most about people, and I have learned how our community rallies for our students and works together to do what is best for each child.
When school resumes on Tuesday, teachers will begin the process of thoughtfully and carefully assessing each student's learning and growth. Once assessed, we will determine what support and next best steps might be needed to fill any gaps in learning, and we will communicate these plans to you regarding your child.
In addition, we have already determined several ways to add instructional time to our school calendar. Here is what you can expect:
Our goal is to provide a safe campus for your children's learning. You will read in this link from Larry Kraut important information about safety procedures that will be in place when our campus reopens on Tuesday. Additionally, I ask that you and your child review and practice an important safety precaution – effective handwashing – before they return to school. Our classrooms are equipped with sinks, as is the entrance to our cafeteria. We will incorporate handwashing into our daily school routine and ask you to do the same at home.
The lower school team and I look forward to welcoming your children back to campus on Tuesday, February 25. In the meantime, take care of yourselves, and tell your children we are impressed with what they have accomplished.
