"Good people turn to love, courage and kindness in times of crisis, not hate, fear and cruelty." ― Laurence Overmire, American author and educator
Dear Parents,
We appreciate your continued cooperation and understanding of many recent changes at school including those involving campus access, our lunch program, athletics, and activities. Thank you also to all of the parents who have so diligently continued to update the travel and contact survey, and to those who have patiently filled out the mandatory visitor survey when invited to a meeting on campus. Our security team monitors responses several times a day and will follow up if further information is needed.
Our new procedures of fever screening, reinforcing hand washing, extra cleaning and sterilizing, and reducing numbers in the cafeteria have all contributed to maintaining a safe learning environment for our students. We ask for your ongoing help by continuing to monitor your children's health. Please keep them at home at any sign of illness.
As in the normal course of any school year, students catching the common cold is not unusual. Accordingly, please continue to adhere to the normal reporting expectations if your child is absent because of an illness, and please keep them at home and seek medical attention as you ordinarily would if symptoms are concerning. Should you have questions about the school's expectations for self-monitoring or self-quarantine related to COVID-19, please contact the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Larry Kraut (krautl@tas.tw).
In these challenging times, we ask the community to show kindness and respect by not assuming that every sick child will be a COVID-19 case. The harm of unkind rumors in our community can be destructive; we ask for your trust and assure you that the school and CDC will inform the community immediately should there be an actual case. This is our time to show strength, resilience, integrity, compassion, and trust. What better gift can we give our children but to model our TAS values now.
Thank you for your continued cooperation in keeping our community safe and healthy. We are fortunate to be able to say that we have zero confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported within our community. As Spring Break approaches, please continue to use the travel and contact survey to report after anyone in the household has travelled and returned to Taiwan and/or if anyone in the household has come in contact with anyone from a Level 1-3 country.
