Dear TAS Parents,
I wrote yesterday that travel conditions were likely to continue to become more restrictive, and I urged you to consider staying on-island for Spring Break.
Indeed, Taiwan's Ministry of Education has just announced that KA-12 students and staff are not permitted to travel abroad until the end of the semester, which for us is May 29.
This restriction applies to all of our students. Although it may be disappointing to cancel travel plans, we at school are very sorry for those who have lost lives around the world because of COVID-19 and need everyone's help to continue to keep this community safe.
Our understanding is that individuals may apply for exemptions to this policy for "special purposes," but we currently do not have much information about what would constitute a "special purpose," or how one would go about applying for permission. We will be sure to keep you informed as we learn more.
This community's health and safety is my highest priority, and I thank you for your ongoing patience and cooperation as we continue to navigate an ever-changing situation. Thank you also for continuing to fill out the travel / contact survey any time anyone in your household leaves the island or any time anyone in your household comes in contact with someone from off-island.
Faithfully,
