Dear Upper School Parents,
As I am sure you are aware, in the interest of the well-being and safety of all members of our community, we will be engaging in distance learning in the coming week. While we of course would prefer to have our students on campus, physically present in class, we are confident we are ready to once again effectively transition into distance learning. In the four weeks we had back at school, we met with students and teachers to gather feedback about what worked best during the first session of distance learning. As a result, we have made some minor adjustments to the schedule and program. What will not change is the thought and effort our teachers will continue to put into how they deliver their course content to students. Please find a document providing an overview of distance learning in the Upper School here.
Below you will find the email that I just sent out to all Upper School students. During the next week it is especially important that students, parents, and faculty are all on the same page to best support student learning. We look forward to having everyone back on campus as soon as possible, and until that time we are excited to continue learning together.
Sincerely, Andrew Lowman Dear Students,
We are hopeful that you were able to get some additional rest over Spring Break. It has been a difficult week around the world as so many are being impacted by the spread of COVID-19. We wanted to send a quick reminder to you that we stand ready to support you during this time. Please know that your administrators, teachers, and counselors are available to you as we work to meet the challenges ahead. Please don't hesitate to reach out to any one of us at any time.
Although we were looking forward to welcoming you back to campus on Monday, we will instead be engaging in distance learning beginning Monday, March 30th. This decision was made with the health and safety of the entire community in mind. Classes will begin at 9 AM on Monday and you can find the guide for distance learning here. In talking with many of you after our first experience with distance learning in February, we know that it can pose specific challenges. However, we also know that many of you enjoyed some of the benefits of the distance learning format. Please make sure that you are proactive in your communication with teachers, counselors, and administrators. The more we communicate during distance learning the better it goes.
Finally, Monday is a B day. Classes start at 9 AM, but it would be a good idea to go on to Canvas before then to see what your day will look like.
Sincerely,
Mr. Lowman, Ms. Fagen, and Mr. VandenBoom Taipei American School 800 Zhongshan North Road, Section 6, Taipei, Taiwan ROC 11152 Phone: +886.2.7750.9900 Website: https://www.tas.edu.tw |
