Celebrating Our School at the 18th Annual TAS Gala Ball

Celebrating Our School at the 18th Annual TAS Gala Ball

By Brooke Burns, Assistant Director of Communications, and Katherine Wang, Development Officer

Each year, our school hosts a Gala Ball to celebrate our school community and its philanthropic spirit. Each year, the proceeds from this event provide significant support to our school, with this year's proceeds being designated to benefit the TAS General Fund, supporting every aspect of our school's operation that is connect to the student experience.

This year, the 18th Annual TAS Gala Ball took placed at the beautiful Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and provided attendees with an exciting, elegant evening of celebration. Dressed to impress, parents, guardians, alumni, faculty and staff, and other supporters and friends of the school, such as former parents and retired employees of the school, all gathered for a champagne reception to kick off the evening, before sitting down to a delicious dinner.

Meanwhile, all guests enjoyed the silent auction, which went digital for the first time, ever! Using an app, attendees could bid (and outbid!) against each other for the amazing array of silent auction items, without interrupting their meal. Digital participation also let attendees create their list of favorite items throughout the night, curating their experience and shopping list, alike. Thanks to all who tried out the app on their phone, and on the iPads at their tables!

With Dennis Nieh as the event emcee, the live auction was especially lively, as parents bid against each other for vacation packages in Taipei and Kenting, and two TAS-themed items: a most exclusive and globally highly sought-after bottle of wine, a reserved parking space in the parent parking lot, and a homemade dinner with Mr. David Frankenberg, our incoming Head of School! With a reputation as a fantastic home chef, we congratulate the winners of this dinner with a pinch of culinary envy! Thank you to Mr. Frankenberg for increasing the number of guests at the end of the live action!

Once the live auction concluded, energy was high, and the band turned this into magic on the dance floor!

Whether you were glued to the silent auction, or dancing the night away, we hope you enjoyed this time to come together, socialize, and celebrate our School in style. Thank you for your support of Taipei American School, and your commitment to our community. We’re already looking forward to next year’s Gala Ball in the first weekend of May, 2025! Save the date, Tigers!
