Lower School Events Fill TAS with Halloween Spirit
Superheroes, dinosaurs, princesses, witches, goblins, and more pranced and paraded through the halls of TAS as Lower School students, employees, and parent volunteers celebrated Halloween together.
Kindergarten Tigers showcased their imaginative costumes, collecting high-fives and treats from other costumed Lower School students who lined the halls to cheer them on. The classrooms and walls were also decorated with student-created art, adding a playfully spooky ambiance for the festivities.
Following the parade, Grade 5 student mentors visited the Kindergarten classrooms and led them through the steps of creating their own spooky yet simply constructed decorations. The older student leaders developed the details of the activities and planned these fun, engaging activities for their younger peers.
Our student leaders were supported by homeroom liaisons so our youngest Tigers could practice essential motor skills like drawing, cutting shapes with scissors, and pasting as they crafted their own decorations. Dozens of handmade bats, ghosts, and pumpkins soon decorated the walls. With everyone in costume and having plenty of spooky fun, Lower School mentors enjoyed sharing their leadership skills through play, patience, communication, and teamwork.
The fun continued with themed activities organized by teachers and parent volunteers - from pumpkin decorating to holiday games and crafts - each allowing students to explore their creativity. The day culminated in a trick-or-treat procession through various Lower School offices and libraries.
Lower School Principal, Tara Simeonidis, deemed the day, and particularly the parade, a success, “It’s wonderful to see students so engaged, expressing themselves through their costumes and having a blast with their families and friends,” she said. "This was our first year of organizing a Halloween Parade and it turned out to be the highlight of our fall semester for our Lower School,” she added.
At TAS, we’re already looking forward to the next opportunity to celebrate together, as we continue to create vibrant learning experiences that encourage our students to explore and grow in a supportive environment.
