TAS Tigers Celebrate Championships, Growth, and Community Spirit in IASAS Season 2

TAS Tigers Celebrate Championships, Growth, and Community Spirit in IASAS Season 2

Taipei American School student-athletes delivered an exceptional showing across Asia as IASAS Season 2 concluded, bringing home championship titles, podium finishes, and meaningful experiences that reflect the strength of TAS Athletics and the character of its students.

Competing across rugby, basketball, tennis, swimming, and touch, TAS athletes represented their school with pride and determination. The season was highlighted by gold medal victories from the Boys Rugby and Girls Basketball teams, whose preparation, teamwork, and resilience carried them to the top of the podium. The Girls Touch team and Boys Tennis team earned silver medals through consistently strong performances, while the Boys Swimming team secured a bronze medal, demonstrating depth and focus throughout their competition.

Other TAS teams also competed with perseverance and heart. The Girls Tennis and Girls Swimming teams each finished fourth, and the Boys Basketball team placed fifth after a series of hard-fought matchups. Across every sport, TAS student-athletes demonstrated discipline, teamwork, and the ability to grow through both success and challenge.

Beyond competition results, IASAS represents a culminating experience for student-athletes, where months of preparation are tested and where students develop resilience, accountability, and confidence. These tournaments provide opportunities for athletes to support one another, respond to adversity, and represent their school with integrity.

This season was especially meaningful as Taipei American School proudly hosted the IASAS Touch and Rugby Championships on campus. The event brought together student-athletes, coaches, and families from across the region and transformed TAS into a vibrant hub of competition and connection.

Events of this scale reflect a true community effort. Coaches and Athletics staff guided athletes through months of preparation, host families opened their homes to visiting students, and faculty, staff, and parent volunteers helped create a welcoming and supportive environment. Students and families filled the sidelines, cheering with pride and helping create an atmosphere that elevated the experience for everyone involved.

The impact of that hospitality was deeply felt. Following the tournament, TAS received a Spirit of IASAS nomination from a visiting school, recognizing the care and welcome shown throughout their stay. In their message, they shared:

“Thank you to the TAS community for making us feel very welcomed. Our girls really enjoyed their host families, everyone on campus - parents, TAS Athletic staff, Security (always a nice hello/goodbye & smiles). The entire TAS community were incredible IASAS Touch and Rugby tournament hosts and made for a memorable experience for all. Thank you, TAS.”

This recognition reflects the values that define TAS Athletics. IASAS is not only about competition, but about growth, sportsmanship, and belonging. Through these experiences, student-athletes learn to navigate both success and adversity, develop resilience, and build lasting friendships across cultures and communities.

As IASAS Season 2 concludes, the TAS community celebrates not only championships and podium finishes, but the dedication, character, and unity demonstrated by every student-athlete. Their efforts reflect what it means to be a Tiger and serve as a source of pride for the entire school community.
