TAS Tigers Roar at 2026 ASIJ VEX Robotics Tournament V5 in Tokyo

TAS Tigers Roar at 2026 ASIJ VEX Robotics Tournament V5 in Tokyo

TAS Robotics roared in Tokyo! Hosted by our friends at the American School in Japan, the annual ASIJ VEX Robotics Tournament is a favorite competition for our students, and the fifth year of this tournament was no exception.

Fresh off of a great showing at Hsinchu VEX in December, TAS sent four VEX teams to ASIJ to compete: 4253Z, 4253S, 4253V, and 4253A.

For two days of competition, TAS joined other high school teams from across the region for an electrifying celebration of innovation, engineering, and teamwork.

This V5 tournament featured student-designed, built, and programmed robots competing in both driver-controlled matches and autonomous skills challenges. Teams faced off in this year’s dynamic new VEX game, Push Back, a fast-paced test of strategy, precision, and resilience that kept competitors and spectators on the edge of their seats.

With a rapt audience, high-stakes matchups, and a spirit of collaboration throughout the event, the tournament highlighted students’ creativity, problem-solving skills, and passion for robotics. More than a standout showcase of learning in action, the tournament was a major point of pride for our Tigers.

In a fantastic sweep, all four teams brough home major awards, and fought their way to the final match, where two TAS teams went head to head against the other two TAS teams for the championship title. By the weekend's end, TAS had secured seven of the ten awards available at this event, namely the:

  • Excellence Award: 4253Z (Henry C., Victor M., Zachary N., Jayden Y., Preston C.)
  • Tournament Champions: 4253S (Remiel L., Nelson H., Reinen L., Andrew C., William T., Ivan L.) and  4253V (Brendon L., Caden W., Lion S., Ethan M., Karson K.)
  • Design Award: 4253V
  • Robot Skills Champion: 4253A (Anton L., Wentao Z., Ashley C., Timothy F., Sheldon W., Jett L.)
  • Build Award: 4253A
  • Innovate Award: 4253S

Congratulations, Tigers, we’re so proud of you!
