TASMUN 2026 Brings Regional Delegates to TAS for a Weekend of Dialogue

TASMUN 2026 Brings Regional Delegates to TAS for a Weekend of Dialogue

From April 25–26, Taipei American School hosted the 2026 TASMUN Conference, welcoming delegates from 28 schools across Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Vietnam, and India. Centered on the theme of A Small Act: Expanding the Pathways to Global Opportunity and Prosperity, the conference brought together delegates for two days of debate, collaboration, and global engagement.

The weekend opened with a keynote address from Luke Piggott, Program Director of SALT Collectiv, who challenged delegates to consider how scaling localized action can pave the way for global prosperity. He concluded by inviting the audience to repeat the phrase, "Change is possible," a moment that resonated across the auditorium and set the tone for the conference.

Across a range of committees, delegates engaged in structured debate on complex international issues, representing diverse perspectives while building skills in research, diplomacy, and public speaking.  Sharon N., Deputy Secretary General of Chair Training said “I was really inspired by the growth of our chairs from the months of work leading up to that, they really showed passion for MUN and grew tremendously through the experience”

Adding a delegate perspective, Gary L. noted, “It was great to see delegates and chairs of all skill levels contributing – the committee felt constructive and welcoming. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to debate and collaborate with others.

Sessions took place throughout the Upper School H Building, with families and community members invited to observe, offering a window into the level of preparation, and thought required for Model United Nations participation.

Led by student leaders with the support of faculty advisors, TASMUN continues to serve as a flagship example of student-driven leadership at TAS.  As Assistant DirectorTodd Ferguson noted, "It is a privilege to be part of such a large and impactful conference. Witnessing the depth of delegate research and the preparation of student officers as they came together this weekend leaves me hopeful for the next generation of leaders."

This year’s conference also highlighted the breadth of student involvement across divisions, with 165 TAS students in Grades 5 – 12 contributing in a variety of roles – from Grade 5 pages and Grade 6 press team members to delegates, chairs, Secretariat members, and senior advisors – underscoring the collaborative spirit at the heart of TASMUN.
