A Bold Next Chapter in TAS’s Campus Evolution

A Bold Next Chapter in TAS’s Campus Evolution

As Taipei American School’s 75th anniversary year draws to a close, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible support and partnership of our community. This milestone has not only allowed us to reflect on the legacy we’ve built together—but also to look ahead with purpose and ambition.

As announced to our community at the 75th Anniversary Gala Ball and directly to the community thereafter, we are proud to introduce Transforming Spaces, a visionary new capital initiative that will reimagine key areas of our campus to better support student learning, personal well-being, and community connection.

Rooted in our Strategic Plan and Master Planning efforts—and inspired by the voices of our students, faculty, staff, and families—Transforming Spaces aims to align our physical environment with the warmth, excellence, and innovation that define TAS. We know that space matters: it shapes how we learn, how we feel, and how we connect.

The first phase of this initiative will focus on four high-impact areas:

  • A new Lower School Cafeteria & Community Room, designed to promote health, independence, and a joyful dining experience for our youngest learners.
  • A dedicated Middle School Playground and Gathering Area, created to support the developmental and social needs of early adolescents.
  • A reimagined Welcome Lobby, offering a more intentional and inspiring entry point for all who walk through our doors.
  • A redesigned Office of Learning, which will foster collaboration and bring academic leadership closer to everyday school life.

We are thrilled to partner with Rosan Bosch, an internationally acclaimed designer known for crafting some of the most forward-thinking educational spaces in the world. Rosan and her team will work closely with the TAS community to ensure that each space reflects the needs and aspirations of our learners and educators.

To hear more about Rosan’s philosophy, we invite you to watch her TED Talk, Designing for a Better World Starts at School.”

Transforming Spaces is only the beginning. As we move forward, we will engage in deeper conversations around program needs, evolving teaching practices, and how our campus can continue to evolve to reflect the future of education at TAS.

This work will be supported through a combination of school resources and philanthropy. We look forward to sharing more details—including project timelines and opportunities for engagement—in the months ahead.

We are deeply grateful for your continued trust, support, and partnership. Together, we are shaping a future that reflects the best of who we are—and who we are becoming.
