Tufts University Beelzebubs A Capella Group Visit TAS Singers and Seniors
Just after classes resumed for the second semester, TAS welcomed the Tufts University Beelzebubs for an unforgettable visit to campus!
The Tufts Beelzebubs, an all-male a cappella group from Tufts University, have been captivating audiences since their founding in 1962. Known for their dynamic arrangements and vibrant stage presence, the “Bubs” brought their signature energy to TAS, creating an unforgettable experience for students.

During a special session with the Upper School Opus Choir, the Bubs led an interactive singing workshop. Students learned professional warm-up techniques and worked closely with the group in sectional rehearsals, splitting into bass, tenor, and alto parts before coming together for a full ensemble performance.
The workshop culminated in a lively exchange of ideas and harmonies, giving TAS students a glimpse into the collaborative spirit that defines collegiate a cappella.

This was followed by an impromptu performance in the Black Box that instantly drew a crowd, where the energy and joy from the performers and audience alike were impossible to miss. Between songs, members shared their diverse academic backgrounds—ranging from biochemistry and mechanical engineering to political science—underscoring how students from all disciplines can come together under a unifying passion in university.

As part of the visit, the visiting students offered a Q&A session after school for TAS students interested in applying to Tufts University.

During the session, the Bubs spoke about life as students at Tufts University and studying in the Boston area. They encouraged soon-to-be graduates to embrace new opportunities, noting that many members discovered their love for singing only after arriving at university, and that it was because they were open to new experiences, that they were able to find such a special community. Their stories highlighted the importance of embracing being self-directed learners and how being open to new experiences can lead to life-changing trajectories.

We are grateful for opportunities like this that connect TAS students with collegiate performers, offering authentic insight into musical collaboration and life beyond high school. A heartfelt thank you to the Tufts Beelzebubs for sharing your talent, time, and experiences with our community, and to our TAS (and Tufts) alumni who helped make this visit possible.
