The TAS Middle School Tigers opened their 2024 season with a victory over the Thunder 9 - 4. The key to the vwin was the dominant pitching performance by Graham G ('29) who only needed 66 pitches in his five innings, giving up one run and only one walk. Offensively, the hitting star was Brendon L. ('28), who hit two rockets to the left field gap, which plated four RBI. The Tigers as a team had six hits and used their plate discipline to earn ten walks, with August F. ('28) leading the way with three free passes. Once on board, the Tigers stole an astounding thirteen bases to demoralize their opponent. After the game, Coach Imbrogulio was overheard saying to the team that, "I have coached against the Thunder for many years and this was the first time our team has come out on top....feels really good...thanks fellas."

In game 2 of the opening day double header, the TAS Tigers fell to the Thunder 13-9. TAS is using the second game of these weekly double headers to experiment. Many pundits have described these games as developmental, but the coaching staff views them as investments, and the players all just want to win. August F. ('28) made his first career pitching appearance and struggled throughout his outing, but he came off with a positive attitude having learned a lot about the lonely nature inherent with being on the mound. The coaches know he will take that knowledge into making his next appearance more successful. He was relieved by Connor W. ('29). Connor also struggled with his command early, but after a 'pull up your socks' conversation with Coach Thronberg, he rallied to end the Thunder onslaught. With the score after three innings standing at 12-0, the coaches challenged the team to win the next inning, and they responded by winning the next three. This turnaround was sparked by the breakout pitching performance of Eric F. ('28), who quieted the Thunder bats the rest of the way. Eric showed command of all his pitches and mixed them up with an expertise that defied his experience. He was assisted by the catching debut of Aaron C. ('29), who made all the plays and took charge of the defense. Coach Imbrogulio said afterwards that "Aaron is the smartest player we have and sees the game from all angles.". Offensively, the Tigers were led by Connor W., whose one hit on the day resulted in three RBI, but the load was shared all around with TAS taking advantage of their twelve baserunners, on eight hits and four walks, to get nine of them home. "We had a bunch of raw recruits that are new to the program doing stuff to help the cause...Jason K., Francis N. and Zethan H. ('28) all had hits and scored runs." said Coach Imbrogulio, who added, "I also want to call out Lucas C. ('29). He not only played a mean third base today, but was called on to play some at first base, a spot he has never played or even practised at to my memory, and he made a couple of difficult plays that stymied the Thunder rally and turned the momentum back our way.". Even though the result is not what they wanted, every player had their head held high at the end.
