Art Innovation & Technology - Grades 6, 7 & 8

The goal of this course is to help students to think like an artist/designer, learn to come up with new ideas, and use the right tool to bring their ideas to life.  In this course, students will learn to create using tools such as Adobe Photoshop, TouchDesigner, Adobe Fresco, Adobe Photoshop, Meshmixer and Blender to work on projects at the intersection of Art and Design.  There will be several opportunities for students to work with both analog and digital tools, to transform traditional, physical art forms into digital pieces, and vice versa. For example, students may create physical clay figures then use technological tools to turn them into digital objects; or students may first create digital artwork then print them into physical paintings. Projects will involve the use of 3D scanners, 3D printers, Laser cutters and new media art tools (audio and video). There will also be several opportunities for students to use traditional art mediums, including drawing and painting.

In the first week of the course, students will be exploring different art materials and learning new techniques. In the second week, students will be working on independent capstone projects.
