JOB DESCRIPTION
SUPERVISOR: Chief Operating Officer
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Facilities is responsible for the management of the school's operational support function including maintenance and repair, transportation, facilities and food services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in the recruitment and is responsible for the assignment, development, and evaluation of the Food Service Director, Maintenance Manager, Facilities Manager, and Transportation Supervisor to ensure that communications with subordinates and across departments are effective to facilitate a collaborative working relationship.
- Oversees staff training programs to ensure all employees are prepared and supported to achieve department success.
- Prepares annual and long-range operating budgets in consultation with the Chief Operating Officer and Controller.
- Keeps up to date on changes or requirements of laws and regulations in the USA and ROC on campus maintenance and facilities safety and assists the Chief Operating Officer in the development and management of the school’s operational safety requirements to ensure the school is in compliance.
- Assists in the planning and implementation of security and risk management which protects the welfare of students and staff, protects the assets of the school and limits the liability of the staff, administration and board.
- Plans and manages facilities operations, maintenance and repairs to ensure effective maintenance of school equipment and plant facilities in order to maintain a high level of safety on campus at all times for all of the school community members including its employees, students, parents, and visiting members.
- Establishes and manages orderly schedules for facilities in support of the school's academic and activities programs and facilities rentals.
- Manages the school transportation program with emphasis on safety, service, , efficient routing and scheduling.
- Manages a school food services with emphasis on food quality, both human and food safety, hygiene and nutrition.
- Collaborates with colleagues, uses support staff appropriately and exhibits good team spirit. Meets with students, parents and employees in support of the school’s operations as required.
- Maintains and establishes compliance standards as required in areas of facilities, maintenance and repair, transportation and food services.
- Participates in the Administrative meetings as required and collaborates with the administrative team.
- Provide oversight and input regarding current transportation, maintenance and facilities, and food service programs, processes and procedures and recommend opportunities for future improvements to the Chief Operating Officer.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree with preference in Business Administration, or Mechanical Engineering or similar field of study.
- Five years of relevant experience in facilities and or maintenance management or support services. Experience in international or independent school setting preferred.
- Ability to work with teams and stakeholders
- Proven effective management and communication skill
- Proven effective problem-solving skill
- Knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, welding, painting, maintenance materials

Administrator- Upper School Associate Principal (FILLED)
JOB SUMMARY
The associate principal is responsible for assisting the principal carry out his or her duties as the instructional leader of the division. The associate principal assumes the principals responsibilities in his or her absence and takes the leadership role in the areas of student activities, communicating with school wide services, student conduct and values, emergency planning, and safety.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Commits time and leadership for the successful implementation of the school’s board-approved strategic / accreditation plan.
- Assists the division principal in the development, assignment, supervision and evaluation of the staff in his or her division.
- In the absence of the principal, assumes the responsibility of the principal for the day-to-day operation of the division.
- Assists the division principal in the implementation of the division's professional development program.
- Assists the division principal in the curriculum development process and takes primary responsibility for overseeing the curriculum and activities program.
- Leads all efforts to ensure effectiveness with school operation, in assisting the division principal in communicating school wide services, maintenance, health services, and transportation.
- Carries out the divisions program of student conduct and values ensuring that the code of conduct and values are accepted and understood by the school community and that discipline is used in a constructive, fair and equitable manner.
- Carries out the division's emergency plan and coordinates with school wide emergency procedures.
- Reports division safety concerns to the maintenance department and ensures that the concerns are resolved.
- Collaborates with colleagues, uses support staff appropriately and exhibits "team spirit."
- Is available for meeting with, students, parents and employees. Ensure students view the associate principalship as an advocate position.
- Is familiar with the school's strategic plan, board policy and other relevant policy and procedure materials and seeks to comply with and implement these standards.
- Participates in the collaborative management of the school through participation in weekly admin team meetings.
- Shares the responsibility of interpreting the division's program to the school community through such activities as open house, back-to-school nights, PTA meetings and by participating in board meetings as necessary.
- Seeks to improve his or her competency through participation in the School's professional growth programs to include cooperating with the division principal in the School's Professional Growth and Evaluation Process.

Part Time Nurse (FILLED)
JOB SUMMARY
The part time nurse is responsible for carrying out the required health service programs and nurse duties in accordance with school policies and procedures on as needed basis. Working hours must be flexible and will include some weekends, after school evening hours, and scheduling on a week to week basis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluating patient complaints and using professional judgment in providing comfort and care, making referrals to doctors, and keeping parents, teachers and administrators informed on an as needed basis.
- Provide nursing services for sick or injured students on campus and on school sponsored trips and activities on and off campus as assigned.
- Chart each patient with accurate and appropriate details for all injuries/illnesses as per health office protocol and procedures.
- Maintain health records for each student using the school's data management systems, including immunization records and medical examination forms, and notifying parents when updates are needed.
- Dispense daily prescribed medications when authorized by parents and physicians.
- Serves as the substitute for full time nurses as needed.
- Assists in preparing middle school camp medical information and supplies. Attend middle school camp as assigned.
- Assists in attending campus activities requiring nursing services as assigned
- Completes in office paperwork in June and July as assigned.
- Assists in maintaining emergency medical equipment on campus, including but not limited to AED’s, emergency medical bags, and emergency medication for students.
- Other duties as assigned by head nurse, which may include health office projects or supporting divisional functions as needed.

Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Upper School Principal and in collaboration with the Systems Librarian, the Upper School Librarian is responsible for providing vision and leadership that both reflects current needs and anticipates future trends in the evolving library and information environment. Together the Upper School and Systems librarians are responsible for the strategic planning, operational proficiency, and administrative oversight of technical services operations including cataloging, collection development, electronic resources and serials, systems, and some special collections. They will direct all aspects of technical services, including development of policies and procedures; and recruiting, scheduling, training, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating support staff. They will lead the library in providing access to materials in a changing mix of user-oriented, in-person, and online environments for Taipei American School faculty, students and staff.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Administration:
- Responsible for the daily supervision of staff and operations of the Joanna Nichols Memorial Library, Upper School information Commons (USIC).

KA-12 Electronic Resources Librarian/Upper School Librarian (FILLED)
Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Upper School Principal and in collaboration with the other divisional librarians, the person in this role will both serve as a part-time Upper School Librarian and perform various professional tasks associated with promoting information literacy by maintaining subscription database products, eBooks, and other electronic tools and resources. In their capacity as Electronic Resources Librarian, this person also provides technical services to all TAS libraries and acts as a liaison with IT, as “first responder” to all library product outages.

- Develops and evaluates procedures and practices optimizing the creative use of technology for USIC operations. (Kayako, EDS, Stacks, etc.)
- Coordinates projects, training, and documentation across the department to ensure that processes related to cataloging and processing are done consistently and according to current best practices. (MARC Data FTPs, Linking data, etc.)
- Collects and analyzes feedback from stakeholders, including working with faculty, students and staff to evaluate existing library technologies, and developing and executing plans for enhancing them to ensure service quality. (User interfaces, intuitive navigation, etc.)
- Provides strategic direction for the evaluation, procurement, and development of new technologies or enhancements with existing technologies in support of digital collections, projects, and services. (Stacks development, institutional repository, serials management, eBook management, etc.)
- Works with Librarian and USIC staff to establish workflows and technical proficiency of staff within the operating areas.
- In consultation with the divisional librarians, staff, and technical personnel, investigates and implements new methods of providing access to collections. (mobile, APIs, etc.)
- Develops and maintains a support mechanism for students, faculty, and staff to report technical problems and questions related to library systems. Maintains statistics or documents the technical services operations.
Instruction:
- Teaches information literacy skills in the Upper School via embedded class sessions, video creation, library guides, and other appropriate evolving technological methods as necessary for student and faculty development.
- Provides reference and research services in the Upper School through various communication methods, class instruction, and individual consultations.
School Representation:
- Serves as the primary liaison to the TAS IT Department.
- Serves as the primary liaison to library vendors’ technical support departments.
- Serves as liaison to other TAS librarians as it relates to KA-12 electronic resources.

Head Athletic Trainer (FILLED)
JOB SUMMARY
The Head Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Athletic Director and supervises two assistant athletic trainers; is responsible for all student athletes grades 6-12 in the realm of prevention, evaluation, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation of all sports related injuries or illnesses; and is responsible for emergency management of on and off-campus sporting events conducted by TAS Athletics; and serves as K-12 Concussion Case Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for prevention, emergency care, first aid, evaluation, and rehabilitation of sports related injuries.
- Responsible for keeping the TAS leadership team and superiors informed at all times on sports medicine matters and issues
- Serve as a liaison between coaching staff, athletes, and their parents.
- Lead, supervise and manages two sports medicine personnel
- Consult with coaching staff on strength training, nutrition, and protective equipment.
- Maintain a budget for the sports medicine department.
- Responsible for inventory and ordering of athletic training room supplies.
- Responsible for inputting all injury records into software provided.
- Responsible for organizing medical coverage for all sporting events conducted by the TAS Athletic Department.
- Responsible for traveling to various athletic events throughout the year as directed.
- Serves as K-12 Concussion Case Manager; conducts baseline ImPACT testing for varsity athletes
- Implement return to learn and return to play protocols for concussion cases
- Perform any tasks requested by the athletic director.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- NATA BOC required
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in related field recommended/preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in either collegiate or HS level athletics
- CPR/AED or EMT Certification
- Native English language skill

Position Summary:
Taipei American School seeks a dynamic, talented, and experienced individual to join our outstanding college counseling office in the role of a college counselor beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year. Reports to: Director of College Counseling
Overall Function: To assist in the administration of a comprehensive college counseling program for all students.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Student Counseling & Support. Counsel students on the college search and application process, including self-exploration, goal-setting, self-advocacy, and application review. Also, provide support through the required school-based components of the application, including producing a comprehensive and creative counselor letter of recommendation for each student.
- Constituency Education. Educate parents, students, faculty, and administrators regarding all aspects of the college application process.
- Relationship Building. Consult regularly with college admissions representatives on current practices and admissions trends and to advocate on behalf of student applicants through phone conversations, email interactions, attendance at conferences, participation in visitation programs or initiatives, and hosting college admissions representatives on campus. Extensive international travel is an expectation.
- Professional Development. Pursue opportunities for professional growth and school exposure through participation in professional organizations such as the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the International Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC), the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), The College Board, ACT, and the like.
- Community Partnership. Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement college counseling programming and to advise on related areas of school life while also effectively integrating into the life of the community through various other duties and responsibilities.
Hours of Work: This is a full-time position on a standard 10-month faculty contract; however, there is an additional responsibility stipend that compensates for additional and expected work over the summer months. Other duties and responsibilities may be negotiated on top of this workload.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree preferred in education or school leadership;
- Expertise in using and training others on the use of Cialfo or similar software;
- Experience in leading, educating, or consulting, preferably in high school college counseling or in college admissions;
- Experience working with diverse and multicultural student and parent populations preferred;
- Preferred Skills & Qualities: organized, ambitious, out-going, service-oriented, strong communication skills, attention to detail, outstanding writing skills, capable of working with multiple constituencies (including students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, trustees), strong work ethic.
