Lower School Parent Coffee: Multilingual Learning and Literacy Development

Wednesday, October 7 | 8:15–9:30 AM | Harmony Theater

The Multilingual Learning and Language Arts Departments warmly invite Lower School families to a Community Coffee focused on the power of multilingualism and how families and school can work together to support children’s language and literacy development across all of their languages.

During this collaborative learning experience, we’ll take a closer look at what happens when children learn and use multiple languages and how their languages work together to support personal well-being, language learning, and literacy development. We’ll celebrate the many strengths multilingual children bring to our community while highlighting the important role home languages play in their multilingual journey.

Together, we’ll explore research-informed strategies used at school that families can also use at home to nurture language and literacy development. We’ll also consider how continued collaboration between families and school can create meaningful opportunities for children to develop all of their languages.
