Supporting Your Grade 9-11 Student: Planning for Wrap-Up Weeks and Final Assessments

Supporting Your Grade 9-11 Student: Planning for Wrap-Up Weeks and Final Assessments

As we approach the end of the semester, we would like to share important reminders to help Grade 9–11 students and families plan for a strong and steady finish to the school year.

We encourage families to take time in the coming weeks to review upcoming final graded work together. Teachers will publish details for each course’s final assessments on Canvas by Friday, May 8. Having a clear understanding of deadlines can help students use their unstructured mornings effectively, pace their work, and reduce stress during Wrap-Up Weeks.

Key Dates and Reminders

  • Monday, May 18: Deadline for all Semester 2 retakes
  • Tuesday–Wednesday, May 19–20: No Assessment Days
  • Starting Tuesday, May 19: Zero Homework Days (no new homework assigned, aside from preparation for final graded work)

Wrap-Up Weeks

Monday, May 25–Wednesday, June 3

During this period, classes will begin at 10:45 AM each day, allowing flexible morning time for students to prepare for final work, meet with teachers, or collaborate with peers.

Students may arrive later or come to campus early to use designated study spaces. Once on campus, students are expected to remain until 3:35 PM. Buses will run on the normal schedule.

Students may not remain on campus after school unless participating in a supervised, school-sponsored activity.

Final Graded Work

Thursday, May 21–Wednesday, June 3

Deadlines are staggered by subject area to support workload balance. If a student is absent on a due date, a doctor’s note must be submitted to USAttendanceSecretary@tas.edu.tw.

End-of-Term Schedule

  • Thursday, June 4: Exam Make-Up Day (no classes for Upper School students)
  • Friday, June 5: Optional attendance; campus closes for students at 11:30 AM

While this is an important academic period, students will also have opportunities to connect with peers and teachers and celebrate the close of the school year.
