Competitions Outside TAS
In SY25–26, TAS will begin supporting students' participation in competitions and events that are not sponsored by TAS. These external competitions are organized by the Taipei City Government Department of Education (DOE) and the Taiwan Ministry of Education (MOE).
This is a new process for TAS and we're excited to support our students as they compete around Taiwan. We thank you for your partnership, patience, and feedback as we work to refine this process to best support our students and families. Please contact Mr. Larry Kraut, COO, at krautl@tas.edu.tw with any feedback on the process.
Please carefully read this guide to the registration process, and follow the steps within to ensure that all required registration documents and student data are received in a timely manner.
Step-By-Step Pre-Registration Process
- As soon as you become aware of a competition in which you would like to enter your child, please write to the relevant school office/secretary listed below, expressing interest on behalf of your child to participate in a DOE or MOE competition. Please bear in mind that the secretaries supporting registration are also supporting students' and teachers' curricular activities and therefore, may be delayed in their response time. We require at least 10 school days' advance notification before the competition registration period, for pre-approved competitions, and at least 30 days' notification for competitions that are not pre-approved.
- The TAS secretary will respond with a list of the required data and documentation to support registration, as well as the due date for all of this information to be returned to TAS in order to complete the registration. Please send all required documents and data as one, single email. Please do not send partial information as it will not be processed.
- After all data and documentation have been received in a single message, the registrar will complete the online registration and print the registration form to allow for all necessary signature and school stamps. Please note that registration cannot begin until all relevant data and signed documents have been returned. Partial files will not be registered.
- Once the online registration form has been completed, the secretary will let you know, and provide the signed and stamped registration document for you to submit to the competition administration.
- If the student wins the competition, TAS will be notified by the competition organizer and prizes will be given to TAS for distribution. If TAS is required to collect the prize, the parent of the student must collect it. Please note that TAS will not accept any awards for adults.

Information Needed from Parents
Please note that TAS does not receive digital notice from DOE or MOE when a competition opens. We receive messages in the postal mail, which are often delivered after the registration deadline has closed. Please do not wait to contact the appropriate TAS secreatry about a competition if you are interested in registering your child.
Registration Timeline & First Come, First Serve
- All information must be received at least one working week before the competition registration deadline.
- If a parent is registering their student for one of the activities requiring case-by-case approval due to risk of student injury, approval must be requested 30 days in advance of the registration period.
- If any documents are missing, we cannot guarantee that registration will be completed on time.
- Please note that as this process is "first come, first serve" meaning that if 30 students reach out enter the competition that is limited to two participants, the first two complete registration files will be registered for the competition, regardless of who made initial contact first.

Eligible Competitions
There are more than 60 competitions organized by Taiwan government authorities. Generally speaking, TAS will be able to support registering the student for competitions indicated below but reserves the right to not register the student when in its sole discretion TAS determines that the student risk of injury or other risk factors cannot meet TAS child safety standards.
Please be reminded that if your activity is in the "case-by-case basis" list, you must request school approval to register at least 30 days in advance of the registration period to allow time for a thorough risk review by TAS.
